Happy new year to you all. We say goodbye to our successes of 2014 and head into 2015 at full speed. The readings indicate that this year will bring yet more changes and scrutiny to the social housing sector.
It seems austerity and the financial pressure that social housing providers (and their residents) face is here for a while longer and providers will continue to be required to ‘work with local authorities’ to meet demands and targets.
Well, we could see the future this way or we could focus on the fantastic impact that social housing providers have on thousands of families.
While this sector continues to be scrutinised, it is also well supported and recognised as a fundamental part of keeping Britain a green and pleasant land. A recent survey showed that 58% of the public support more social housing being built in their local area.
So, let’s stick together and see some great homes being built for some great people.
It’s a short blog from me. It’s Monday 5 January and the world seems to have come out of hibernation today. I am sure you are feeling the same.
All the very best for 2015.
