We will be conducting a series of interviews with the personal injury team for you to find out a little bit more about them and what they enjoy about working in the field of personal injury.
The first of our monthly team member interviews is the head of department, Jonathan Stittle.
If you were not a solicitor, what profession would you have chosen?
“If I was not a solicitor, I would probably have pursued a career in Architecture however, I have been at Taylor&Emmet for 30 years and 6 months so I think I made the correct choice!”
What inspired you to become a solicitor?
“My father who, having considered many alternatives, thought it would be the right career for me when I was fifteen. He wished he had chosen the law instead of teaching.”
What is your favourite type of case?
“My favourite types of case are those which produce a high value of compensation for the client as it’s rewarding to see the difference that it makes to their lives”.
What has been your proudest moment in your profession?
“My proudest moment at Taylor&Emmet was when I obtained compensation of £1.25 million for a teenager who suffered head injuries after a fall”.
What has been your most memorable case?
“After working in the Personal Injury department for so long, I have come across some amusing cases in my time. I remember once when a client sent me a letter describing what had happened after her cat had accidentally eaten a Valium tablet! It kept us all laughing for hours. Luckily the cat survived but you don’t get that every day!”
Do you have any hobbies outside of work?
“Outside of work, I can be found commentating on Sheffield United games for a local hospital radio charity, enjoying a pint of real ale in a pub or getting stuck into a good curry.”
What is your favourite film?
“The classic 1983 comedy ‘Local Hero’.”
Stay tuned for next month when we will be interviewing James Shirtliff.
