What to do if you are involved in an accident this summer

by Julie Moore

As the warm weather continues and we are all enjoying spending time outdoors, it is worth considering the risks you could be exposed to and what to do if you are unlucky enough to sustain injuries as a result of an accident.

In the summer the most common injuries tend to be heat stroke, burns and animal bites. Sports injuries are also more common in the summer months due to the increased number of people taking part in outdoor activities. Injuries caused by more serious events are when a personal injury lawyer may be able to assist in making a claim for compensation.

If you have been involved in an accident whilst out and about this summer, or at any time, you may be able to make a claim for compensation. In order to succeed with your claim, it is important that you obtain as much evidence as possible, as soon as possible. It always helpful to obtain the following:

  • Clear photographs of the defect/hazard and the location of the accident
  • Clear photographs of the injuries sustained
  • Details of any independent witnesses
  • Copies of the Accident Report Form, if completed

The more evidence you can supply, the better the chance of success.
