Today marks World Mental Health Day (10 October), and at Taylor Emmet, we’re proud to celebrate our commitment to providing our people with a standout employee well-being package.
We believe in promoting a positive workplace culture for our teams to work in, and our HR team are at the heart of ensuring all our people feel cared for.
People Advisor, Lauren Partridge, talks more about our initiatives:
Mental Health First Aiders
At Taylor Emmet, we have three fully trained mental health first aiders. Myself, Lee Stacey and Sharna Poxon are the firm’s official mental health first aiders and hold regular sessions with our people to talk through any concerns they may have.
We are trained to spot warning signs of concern in staff, talk through triggers, and provide a safe space for people to share any issues.
We also have mental health champions across the firm who are available to talk to and encourage positive culture across the workforce.
Charity volunteer days
Community is one of our core values. We know that giving back to charities close to our colleagues’ hearts is important. That’s why we’re proud to host a Volunteer Day Scheme for all people to get involved in.
The initiative offers our people a paid volunteer day to pledge their time and support to a charity or community activity.
The scheme means that more than 200 people go out each year to help an organisation or our community and help make a difference.
Connecting across the firm
Our very own dedicated intranet has an interactive mental health portal that provides our people with up-to-date tips and hacks to keep on top of their mental health. We also provide our people with links to trusted external mental health charities and organisations.
We like to encourage people to share their activities and achievements with each other, so that’s why we launched our firm-wide Strava and Instagram accounts.
Charity and fundraising initiatives
At Taylor Emmet, our people care deeply about giving back to charities that do amazing things for the people who need it the most.
We also know that giving back can help boost mental health and morale.
In 2022, we have pledged to raise at least £10,000 for our four charity partners. We will donate evenly to The Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, Support Dogs, the Birth Trauma Association, and the Disasters Emergency Committee from the money raised.
Our volunteer charity committee has a 12-month calendar of exciting fundraising activities to help raise money to meet our ambitious goal.
