A group of 16 Taylor&Emmet employees are limbering up for this weekend’s Dronfield 10K, bringing to a close an eight-week lifestyle challenge.
Sunday’s ten-kilometre road race around Dronfield is the culmination of our ‘couch to 10K’ initiative, which aimed to encourage physical and mental wellbeing though exercise.
Our team comprises runners of varying abilities, all of whom embraced this latest lifestyle challenge, launched in January. Participants were set weekly fitness goals that promoted walking and running to slowly build up stamina. They earned points for completing the planned activities and bonus points for additional wellness tasks. The winner will be announced after Sunday’s race.
We have sponsored Dronfield’s annual 10K and Fun Run since 2018. The annual event is organised to raise funds for the 7th Dronfield Scouts and returns to its original format this year, after being held virtually in 2021 for the first time in its 27-year history.
Sharna Poxon, our head of human resources and Dronfield 10K participant, said: “We have submitted a Dronfield 10K team every year since our association with the event began and my colleagues and I are really looking forward to lining up alongside the hundreds of runners it attracts this weekend. The comradery and crowd support were much missed last year.
“Our lifestyle challenge has been a great way to help colleagues improve their physical fitness and general wellbeing through the dark winter months. We have motivated each other towards a common goal and provided support to those who doubted their ability. Everyone has been keeping a close eye on the league table and I’ve no doubt they will be going all out this week to earn the last few points that are up for grabs!”
