Throughout the week, we’re shining a light on some of the charities making a real difference in our communities and beyond, including Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, and exploring the vital role gifts in Wills play in helping them continue their work for future generations.

A wilder future for Yorkshire

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is the only charity entirely dedicated to conserving, protecting and restoring wildlife and wild places in Yorkshire.  For nearly 80 years, the Trust has been protecting Yorkshire’s wildlife and wild places, working across land and sea, from hills and valleys to beaches and city streets. With more than 100 nature reserves across the county, its work is helping to create a Yorkshire where wildlife and people can thrive together. 

The impact of gifts in Wills

Sassy Holmes, Legacy and In Memory Officer at Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, says: “Gifts in Wills are incredibly important to Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. They are essential in helping us to protect and restore vital habitats, care for our nature reserves which are havens for some of the county’s most endangered species and respond to the challenges facing wildlife across Yorkshire. Many Gifts in Wills are left to us to be used wherever the need is greatest, giving us the flexibility to invest in natures recovery where it will have the biggest impact. It’s about protecting the places people have explored, the landscapes they love, and all the memories they’ve created there.”
