John is an associate in our contentious probate department.
Having graduated with a degree in Music from Newcastle University, John went on to complete a Law degree and post-graduate diploma in Media Business and Law. John is on the panel of solicitors for PRS for Music and BASCA and is a Friend of the Association of Independent Music.
With a strong background in private client work and charity law, John advises on and acts in an array of cases involving- the setting aside of Wills on the grounds of undue influence, fraud and capacity; Inheritance Act disputes; and disputes in respect of the conduct of Executors, Trustees, Deputies and Attorneys.
He also advises on media-related issues for a wide range of clients, in particular those operating in the music, film, TV, advertising, art and theatre industries. His clients include artists, writers, managers, record labels and publishers across the creative industries.
In his spare time John acts as a Trustee of Sheffield Jazz and Director of Sheffield Creative Guild. He enjoys running, walking in the Peaks and continues to play as a session piano player and with his own band Frankly Jazz.
