Employers welcomed at Taylor&Emmet review of year

Sheffield’s Taylor&Emmet LLP is inviting local business owners and HR professionals to a round-up of the major changes to employment laws this year.

The firm’s specialist employment team will be hosting their Annual Employment Law Update on December 6 to reflect on recent legal developments affecting people managers.

Held at the Crucible Theatre’s Adelphi Room in Sheffield city centre, the free breakfast seminar will outline employment law highlights during 2018, on a month-by-month basis and preview what is around the corner for 2019. Delegates will also have an opportunity to raise topical queries with Taylor&Emmet’s head of employment law, Simon Brian and his team.

Taylor&Emmet keeps Legal 500 success in the family

The family law team at Sheffield solicitors, Taylor&Emmet LLP, has retained its top spot in The Legal 500 for the third consecutive year.

Ranked in tier one, Taylor&Emmet’s divorce and childcare experts are described by the industry guide as a “highly regarded team” that “handles a full range of matters.”

Department head, Michaela Heathcote is praised, alongside colleague, Lucy Rodgers, for “negotiating financial remedies in complex divorce matters, often for high net worth individuals.” Childcare specialist, Pat Wotherspoon and mediator, Fay Bunting, are also recommended.

Taylor&Emmet invests in new business talent

Sheffield’s Taylor&Emmet LLP is appointing two highly regarded young solicitors to strengthen the services it offers to local businesses.

Nicola Keith and Tom Haywood have joined the firm’s commercial property and corporate law teams respectively.

Having worked previously at Larken and Co. in Newark for two years, Nicola has relocated to Sheffield to join Taylor&Emmet. She will be working on a wide range of commercial property matters and assisting head of department, Richard Kay, on large or complex cases.

Taylor&Emmet hails success of Dronfield Investment

Taylor&Emmet LLP is celebrating the success of its move to larger premises in Dronfield, after matters handled in the last 12 months have risen by 33% on the year before.

The Sheffield-based solicitors are benefiting from a three-fold increase in office space, which has enabled extra staff to be recruited to meet local demand for its services in the town.

In the year since the move, additional residential conveyancing and probate teams have been introduced in Dronfield, with both departments experiencing a 25% rise in the number of cases opened. The firm has also recruited the first family law specialist to be based permanently in the area and Rachel Barlow has already assisted 98 clients from across North East Derbyshire with issues concerning divorce and separation.

Taylor&Emmet extends family mediation across region

Couples from across Sheffield and North Derbyshire can now access Legal Aid for family law mediation at all four offices of local solicitors, Taylor&Emmet LLP.

Those willing to negotiate a separation without court intervention can do so with the help of specialist mediators at Taylor&Emmet in Sheffield, Ecclesall Road, Dronfield and Bakewell.

The firm has secured a contract with the Legal Aid Agency enabling it to offer this alternative means of resolving financial disputes or arrangements for children to eligible clients. The mediation is not aimed at reuniting couples, but helping them work towards a separation agreement that suits both parties and is likely to work long term.
