Taylor&Emmet expert STEPs up inheritance advice

Sheffield’s Taylor&Emmet LLP is strengthening its team of specialists who offer advice to local families about inheritance and succession planning.

Natalie Sheldon, from the firm’s Eccelsall Road office, has become the fifth Taylor&Emmet probate expert to achieve membership of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

The internationally recognised qualification enables Natalie to help clients decide how best to structure their finances to protect assets and benefit future generations. It has expanded her knowledge to include issues such as trusts, tax and philanthropic giving.

Taylor&Emmet expands Dronfield probate team

Taylor&Emmet LLP is welcoming a new wills and probate solicitor at its Dronfield office to extend the services it provides to North East Derbyshire residents.

Clare Davies joins the firm to offer advice on a wide range of probate matters, such as the preparation of wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and trusts.

Having worked previously at Bell and Buxton in Sheffield, Clare will be based permanently at Taylor&Emmet’s Dronfield office to meet increasing interest from clients. She said: “The firm has an excellent reputation for private client work and it feels great to be part of such a well-respected, ambitious team. Local people clearly want to use a local solicitor and I am enjoying getting to know them and becoming part of this busy, friendly town.”

Taylor&Emmet expands property litigation team

An experienced property litigator has swapped the seaside for the steel city to strengthen the business legal services team at Sheffield’s Taylor&Emmet LLP.

Solicitor, Sarah Coates-Madden, has relocated from Hull to work with the firm’s litigation experts, providing advice to the region’s landlords and tenants.

Having worked previously at Gosschalks in Hull, where she was recognised by The Legal 500 as a ‘sensible and pragmatic lawyer’, Sarah will continue to specialise in property litigation matters at Taylor&Emmet. She will also work closely with the firm’s conveyancing team to address queries such as boundary disputes and offer assistance on leasehold and enfranchisement issues.

Taylor&Emmet lobbies MP for cohabiting couples

A family law expert from the Dronfield office of Taylor&Emmet LLP has met the area’s member of parliament to campaign for better rights for unmarried couples.

Rachel Barlow and North East Derbyshire MP, Lee Rowley, sat down at Taylor&Emmet’s new premises in the town to discuss the lack of legal protection for cohabitees.

As members of Resolution, the organisers of Cohabitation Awareness Week, Taylor&Emmet is lobbying for statutory changes to give unmarried couples the same legal protection, if the relationship breaks down, as those in marriages or civil partnerships. Currently, cohabitation is not recognised in law, regardless of how long the parties have lived together.

Taylor&Emmet blends brain and brawn to aid hospice

Staff at Sheffield solicitors, Taylor&Emmet LLP, have combined their professional skills and sporting prowess to raise almost £5,000 for local hospice, St Luke’s.

The firm has donated £4,767 to help the city’s experts in palliative care continue to give adults with terminal illnesses the best possible quality of life.

Taylor&Emmet’s probate team took part in St Luke’s Wills Month, creating more than 30 new and updated wills for clients, in return for a donation. The initiative kicked off the firm’s fundraising, banking £3,145.
