Sheffield’s Taylor&Emmet LLP is on the hunt for multiple specialist solicitors to more than double the size of its childcare department.

As part of ambitious growth plans, the firm is seeking to recruit several individual lawyers, or potentially an existing team, including support staff.

Taylor&Emmet is taking the unusual step of expanding so rapidly to meet rising demand for its advice from local families and social services involved in conflicts surrounding children.

Sharna Poxon, Taylor&Emmet’s head of human resources, said: “Family law relating to children is a highly specialist and very challenging area of work and we want to build on the reputation we have already in this field to significantly increase our offering. We are looking for solicitors with varying levels of experience who have the sensitivity to handle these distressing matters sympathetically and professionally.”

An independent survey of traffic to law firms’ websites has found Sheffield solicitors, Taylor&Emmet LLP, is head and shoulders above its regional rivals.

The firm is ranked second only to global behemoth, Irwin Mitchell, in South Yorkshire, attracting more visitors to its website than many far larger competitors.

On a national scale, Taylor&Emmet was ranked 20th by regional firms and 49th overall, with 159,619 UK web visits in 2017.

Sheffield’s Taylor&Emmet LLP has appointed an employment law specialist recognised by The Legal 500 to boost the services it offers to local businesses.

Experienced solicitor, Simon Brian, joins the firm as a partner and head of the employment law team.

Having worked previously at Top 100 firms in Southampton and Leeds, Simon will be advising Taylor&Emmet clients on all aspects of human resources and employment law. He is an expert in both contentious and non-contentious matters, including contractual disputes, redundancies and high value, complex discrimination cases.

Sheffield solicitors, Taylor&Emmet LLP, have negotiated a lease on an iconic former cutlery works for the city’s premier restaurant and bar group.

Commercial property specialist, Alastair Reid, helped The Milestone Group secure the Rutland Cutlery Works building in Kelham Island, which it is transforming into a hive of food and drink operators, under one roof.

Due to the popularity of the 14,000 square foot property, Taylor&Emmet had to work quickly to bring the deal to a close, whilst ensuring its client was protected from any onerous liabilities.

A family law expert from Sheffield solicitors, Taylor&Emmet LLP, has taken the helm of the regional branch of solicitors’ family law association, Resolution.

Taylor&Emmet partner, Lucy Rodgers, is now chair of South Yorkshire Resolution, succeeding Vanessa Fox from HLW Keeble Hawson.

Lucy’s role will include attending quarterly liaison meetings in London and raising the profile of Resolution locally, which promotes non-confrontational methods of separation and campaigns for improvements to the family justice system. She has been a member of the organisation since 2001 and was appointed South Yorkshire secretary in 2015.
