\"Jonathan<\/a>The beautiful game<\/em> is the source of much joy, but also it can be the source of great pain; and not just when\u00a0watching from the terraces. A football injury can have serious long term problems and may be the cause of a potential personal injury claim.<\/p>\n

We have handled cases for clients injured due to insufficiently anchored goal posts and defective astroturf surfaces, which in the grand scheme of things were reasonably straightforward. But other types of football injury cases are sometimes\u00a0a lot more complicated to pursue.<\/p>\n

What if my football injury was the result of a bad tackle?<\/h3>\n

The more difficult cases are those arising from tackles which\u00a0cause serious leg injuries that can be career ending. To succeed with such a claim, we have to show that the player who caused the injury went into the tackle either intending to injure our client, or they were being reckless. A \u201cNormal\u201d tackle where players are genuinely trying to win the ball cannot lead to a claim.<\/p>\n

How do I prove the tackle was reckless?<\/h3>\n

Evidence is the key to those cases succeeding and supporting witness\u00a0statements from the referee, spectators and other players are vitally important. I once acted for a locally-based professional footballer who won his case against an opponent. This was largely based on a video of the match and witness statements from around 10 well-known fellow professionals and some journalists who had a good, clear view of the incident.<\/p>\n

Obvious physical assaults often also lead to Criminal Injuries Claims. In the past we have acted for amateur footballers who have been punched by opponents and suffered broken noses and jaws.<\/p>\n
