{"id":4360,"date":"2016-11-18T09:13:30","date_gmt":"2016-11-18T09:13:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tayloremmet.co.uk\/blog\/wordpress\/?p=1509"},"modified":"2016-11-18T09:13:30","modified_gmt":"2016-11-18T09:13:30","slug":"why-you-should-never-accept-a-pre-medical-offer-without-solicitors-advice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tayloremmet.co.uk\/blogs\/why-you-should-never-accept-a-pre-medical-offer-without-solicitors-advice\/","title":{"rendered":"Why you should never accept a pre-medical offer without a Solicitor&#8217;s advice."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tayloremmet.co.uk\/blog\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Dentist.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1510 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tayloremmet.co.uk\/blog\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Dentist-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"All's well that ends well! \" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have settled a case this week which highlights the risks of accepting pre-medical offers.<\/p>\n<p>A client was injured at work.\u00a0 He suffered significant damage to his dental implants and required approximately \u00a34000.00 worth of immediate\u00a0repair work as a result of the accident.<\/p>\n<p>His employer, in fairness, accepted liability and their insurers wrote to our client offering to pay for the treatment.<\/p>\n<p>So far, so good, you might\u00a0think.<\/p>\n<p>The problem was that the work costing \u00a34k\u00a0was only the first\u00a0stage of the required treatment, and the client&#8217;s dentist had told him that \u00a34,000.00 might not be enough to cover all the work required, some of which would be needed in several years&#8217; time.<\/p>\n<p>The insurers dug their heels in, and refused to pay more than \u00a34000, so the client came to see me.<\/p>\n<p>12 months later, we have now settled his claim for \u00a315,000.00.\u00a0 This sum\u00a0includes the \u00a34000.00 for the treatment required now, which he can now pay for, and makes provision for the treatment he is going to need again in 15 years, when his repaired implants\u00a0will need replacing.\u00a0 It also includes compensation for his injuries.\u00a0 He was in significant pain for many months, and had to\u00a0have his food mashed up until he recovered enough to eat normally.\u00a0 The\u00a0 social embarrassment caused by the injury\u00a0left him feeling withdrawn and unable to go out for dinner with his friends and family.
