I was pleased to hear Theresa May say that she would be directly addressing the \u201cordinary working class family\u201d when building a better Britain in her inaugural speech as PM on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
As she stood outside 10 Downing Street in her leopard print shoes, she went on to say that \u201cWhen we pass new laws, we\u2019ll listen not to the mighty, but you\u201d, referring again to those families who are \u201cjust managing\u201d.<\/p>\n
I hope that she means this and that she and the new Secretary of State for Justice, Elizabeth Truss, will listen to the vast majority of people who believe that there should be no reform of the laws affecting personal injury claims as suggested by the former Chancellor George Osborne in November.<\/p>\n
The families concerned do not want to fight against insurance companies alone if one or more of them is injured in a car accident to recover the compensation they are entitled to. A few thousand pounds means a lot to \u201cordinary\u201d people and can make the difference between \u201cjust managing\u201d and getting into huge debt which they cannot afford to repay.<\/p>\n
Scrapping the proposals to abolish \u201cwhiplash\u201d claims and to raise the Small Claims Limit to \u00a35000 will allow all citizens to be able to instruct experienced and skilled solicitors to help them win their claims and recover as much in damages as they are entitled to after any type of accident, ensuring that they receive justice and proper compensation.<\/p>\n
It would appear that the previous Chancellor wanted justice for the \u201cmighty\u201d international insurance companies, so let\u2019s hope that Theresa and Elizabeth truly want justice for the people and practise what the new Prime Minister has preached.<\/p>\n
