{"id":2557,"date":"2019-05-21T11:39:29","date_gmt":"2019-05-21T10:39:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tayloremmet.co.uk\/blogs\/?p=2557"},"modified":"2019-05-21T11:39:29","modified_gmt":"2019-05-21T10:39:29","slug":"mountain-sized-fundraiser-looms-large","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tayloremmet.co.uk\/blogs\/mountain-sized-fundraiser-looms-large\/","title":{"rendered":"Mountain-sized fundraiser looms large"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>19 of our sportiest staff members are limbering up for a charity challenge that will see them attempt to cycle the height of Kilimanjaro as many times as possible in one day.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our team is pitting itself against the brains of the University of Sheffield\u2019s legal department and the brawn of the Mercure St Paul\u2019s gym in a race to the virtual summit.<\/p>\n<p>Held on Thursday (May 23) outside the Mercure Hotel in Sheffield, the \u2018Climb the Height of Kilimanjaro\u2019 challenge will raise funds for Paces, a local specialist educational centre for children with cerebral palsy and other motor disorders.<\/p>\n<p>Staff from across most departments will compete, led by clinical negligence specialist, Corinna Lincoln. She will be joining Paces chief executive, Spencer Pitfield, in Tanzania in September to climb the 5,895 metres up Kilimanjaro. Their endeavours will benefit the charity\u2019s bid to raise \u00a31 million to build a new facility in Sheffield, which the University\u2019s architecture department has helped to design.<\/p>\n<p>Corinna said: \u201cI am hugely looking forward to our forthcoming fundraiser and want to thank everyone at the Mercure and University for showing such enthusiasm for the charity and the endurance challenge itself. Taylor&amp;Emmet is home to a number of sporty staff but do we have what it takes to cover the most ground? Only time will tell!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The fundraiser will take place on the veranda of the Mercure St Paul\u2019s Hotel in Sheffield city centre from 9am to 5pm on Thursday.
