The key changes include:<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #003a7a;\">1.<\/span> <\/strong>The statutory limit on a week\u2019s pay used for calculating an unfair dismissal basic award and also for calculating a statutory redundancy payment will increase from \u00a3538 to \u00a3544;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003a7a;\"><strong>2.<\/strong> <\/span>The maximum basic award for unfair dismissal (calculated according to a formula based on the employee\u2019s age, length of service and weekly pay (capped as above)) will increase from \u00a316,140 to \u00a316,320;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003a7a;\"><strong>3.<\/strong> <\/span>As the calculation for a statutory redundancy payment mirrors the calculation for a basic award, the maximum statutory redundancy payment consequently will increase to \u00a316,320; and<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003a7a;\"><strong>4.<\/strong> <\/span>The statutory upper limit (or \u201ccap\u201d) on the maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal will increase from \u00a388,519 to \u00a389,493 (the maximum compensatory award is the lower of 52 weeks\u2019 pay or the statutory cap).<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #003a7a;\">National minimum wage<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>National minimum wage rates will also increase with effect from 1 April 2021 as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #003a7a;\">1.<\/span> <\/strong>The National Living wage which has applied to workers aged 25 and over since 2016 will be extended to 23 and 24 year olds from 1 April 2021 and will increase from \u00a38.72 to \u00a38.91;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #003a7a;\">2.<\/span> <\/strong>For workers aged 21 to 22, the standard adult rate of the national minimum wage will increase from \u00a38.20 to \u00a38.36;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003a7a;\"><strong>3.<\/strong> <\/span>Workers aged 18 to 20 who receive the development rate of the national minimum wage will see hourly pay increased from \u00a36.45 to \u00a36.56;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003a7a;\"><strong>4.<\/strong> <\/span>The young worker rate (age 16 &#8211; 17) will increase from \u00a34.55 to \u00a34.62; and<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003a7a;\"><strong>5.<\/strong> <\/span>The apprentice rate (which applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged over 19 who are in the first year of their apprenticeship) will increase from \u00a34.15 to \u00a34.30.<\/p>\n<p>Statutory sick pay minimum weekly payment will increase from \u00a395.85 to \u00a396.35 from 4 April 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The prescribed weekly rates of statutory maternity pay, statutory paternity pay, statutory adoption pay, maternity allowance, shared parental pay and parental bereavement leave will increase from \u00a3151.20 to \u00a3151.97.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From 6 April 2021, there will be increases to various employment related limits.
