Lisa joined Taylor&Emmet in June 2007 after what can only be described as one of the firm’s strangest interviews!
Our HR manager, Hannah Southern, actually thought Lisa was there for a different job to the one she applied for. But, after a few basic questions, she had so impressed Hannah that she was offered a position working alongside one of our senior commercial property partners.
Lisa actually received two offers of employment that day and despite the unusual start, she accepted the role at Taylor&Emmet having gained a good feeling about the firm and her career prospects.
Hannah’s instincts proved to be correct and Lisa promises to be one of Taylor&Emmet’s stars of the future. She is still working in our commercial property team, but she is also back at university converting to a law degree and undertaking her Legal Practice Course (LPC).
Balancing work and study is making life a little hectic at the moment, but Taylor&Emmet is offering its full support. Lisa’s typical day starts at 5.45am, when she gets up to go for a run. She arrives at the office at 7.30am and fits three hours study into her evenings. In rare moments of spare time, she attends outdoor classes with British Military Fitness and plays five-a-side football with some of the other girls from work.
Lisa said: “I have a demanding role, but my team is great and we get on really well. I receive a lot of support from colleagues, with both work and my studies, so things stay fresh in my mind and I gain a practical outlook on theoretical issues.”
Hannah Southern added: “It was clear from day one that Lisa wanted career progression and to be supported by a firm that would allow her to realise her potential. Thankfully, she has found that in Taylor&Emmet.”
