TAYLOR&EMMET FORGES UNION WITH PRIME MINISTER

A personal injury specialist at Sheffield solicitors, Taylor&Emmet LLP, has traded the city’s seven hills for the country’s capital after receiving an invitation to meet the Prime Minister.

Taylor&Emmet’s Garry Dickinson was one of a chosen few dignitaries invited to meet Gordon Brown at the official opening of trade union, Community’s, new London offices.

Garry was asked to the opening of Community’s Covent Garden headquarters by general secretary, Michael Leahy. He was introduced to Mr Brown after working with the union for 26 years, dealing mainly with personal injury matters and liaising with colleagues at Taylor&Emmet to deliver a full range of personal legal services to members.

Mr Brown, the very first member of Community, unveiled a plaque to welcome the organisation to its new home. The union was launched in 2004 following a merger of the Iron and Steel Trades Confederation and the Union of Knitwear, Footwear and Allied Trades and was based previously at King’s Cross.

Garry said: “It was a huge honour to meet Mr Brown and to hear him speak so highly of Community and its support of members. Being invited to attend such a prestigious event demonstrates the union’s recognition and appreciation of the work we do. I have established strong links with the organisation and my colleagues at Taylor&Emmet and I look forward to working with them for many years to come.”

For further information about the range of services Taylor&Emmet offers to trade unions, contact Garry Dickinson on (0114) 218 4000.
