Taylor&Emmet talks Twitter
Employment law experts at leading Sheffield solicitors,
Taylor&Emmet LLP, are hosting a free seminar to help
local businesses address the dangers of social
networking sites.
Held on June 9 at the Leopold Hotel, ‘Is Twitter a
ticking time bomb for your business?’ is the latest in a
series of quarterly breakfast seminars organised by
Taylor&Emmet. The
event will focus on the potential for social networking
sites, such as Twitter and Facebook, to become a
battleground for disgruntled employees. Taylor&Emmet’s
employment law team will discuss the issues linked to
misuse of these websites – in the workplace or at home –
and the legal consequences for businesses.
Delegates will have an opportunity to establish whether
their organisation has adequate protection against the
risks posed by social networking and explore the
opportunities the phenomenon can present. Attendees will
also receive a complimentary social networking policy to
include in staff handbooks.
David Poddington, Taylor&Emmet’s head of employment law,
said: “Employee misuse of social networking sites can
have a serious impact on businesses, potentially
resulting in damage to reputation, breach of
confidentiality and disciplinary proceedings. We want to
make local employers aware of the need for adequate
protection and help them put plans in place to safeguard
their interests.”
Taylor&Emmet’s employment law seminar will run from
8am-10am and will include a light breakfast. It is free
for up to two delegates per organisation, but places are
strictly limited so early booking is advised. For
