TAYLOR&EMMET HAS HEALTHY OUTLOOK ON BUSINESS WEEK Leading Taylor&Emmet’s head of employment law, David Poddington, will be hosting one of the seminars that comprise the week-long event, looking at all aspects of corporate wellness. Held at Sheffield Cathedral’s conference centre on Wednesday (October 7) from 3-4pm, Taylor&Emmet’s seminar will provide an overview of the legal foundations that underpin health and wellbeing at work. David will equip delegates with a sound understanding of the case for a healthy workplace and highlight the financial consequences of getting it wrong. He will outline the health and safety legislative framework, look at an employer’s duty of care and discuss implied contractual terms, disability discrimination and the new law on corporate manslaughter. He will also focus on the legal aspects of stress at work, including recent case law and forthcoming developments. Sheffield Business Week is being organised by Sheffield Chamber of Commerce to provide a series of informative seminars and events to support owners, managers and employees from local companies of all sizes. David Poddington said: “We are very pleased to be invited by the Chamber to take an active role in this year’s Sheffield Business Week. I am confident that delegates will find my seminar both thought provoking and topical, as the laws relating to health and wellbeing in the workplace are regularly being tested in the courts and tribunals. It is important that employers understand the extent of their responsibilities and the implications of being underprepared. Taylor&Emmet’s employment law seminar is free to Chamber members and £10 +VAT for non-members.
