TAYLOR&EMMET SHOWS VIOLENCE IS NOT ‘ALL WHITE’
Family experts at leading Sheffield solicitors, Taylor&Emmet, are turning a whiter shade of pale to back an initiative that aims to stop violence against women.
Taylor&Emmet’s family team and front of house staff donned white ribbons in support of White Ribbon Day an anti-violence campaign recognised across the world.
The team was helping raise awareness of the international White Ribbon Campaign, an educational organisation run by men to end men’s violence against women. The campaign works with schools, workplaces, communities and local women’s groups to tackle violence at its roots.
White Ribbon Day coincided with the introduction of stricter laws on forced marriage, which Taylor&Emmet’s senior matrimonial solicitor, Michaela Heathcote, is hoping will significantly lower the number cases of violence against women reported in the UK.
Michaela said: “The timely implementation of the Forced Marriage Act has brought the issue of men’s violence to the fore. Taylor&Emmet has one of the largest family law departments in Sheffield and even though the majority of the team is female, we want to show our commitment to the values promoted by the White Ribbon Campaign to never commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women.”
Taylor&Emmet runs a helpline (0114) 218 4040 to provide the victims of domestic violence and those in emergency family situations with essential legal advice. The helpline is available Monday-Friday from 9am to 5pm, along with free initial appointments with a family law specialist.
For further information about the help Taylor&Emmet provides to victims of domestic violence, contact the firm on (0114) 218 4000 or visit www.tayloremmet.co.uk. Details of the White Ribbon Campaign can be found at www.whiteribboncampaign.co.uk
