Jonathan Stittle
Head of Personal Injury

Despite much talk at the moment about a growing compensation culture, the number of personal injury claims is actually going down. * And Jonathan Stittle, Equity Partner at Taylor and Emmet, sees this trend as a healthy one.

Jonathan explains "Prevention is always better than a cure. After an accident, compensation helps but it does not ultimately ‘cure' the trauma and pain endured by the victim."

"Improvements in health and safety are going a long way to prevent accidents happening, but when things do go wrong it is vital that people get advice from properly qualified and experienced solicitors, otherwise their suffering may be prolonged unnecessarily."

Jonathan graduated from Oxford University in 1981and passed his Law Society Finals at Chester in 1982. He joined Taylor & Emmet in 1986 and became a partner a year later. His approach is probably best summarised by one of his clients, Dale Eusman.

He said, "Jonathan came to see me in hospital and I was immediately reassured by his professional yet personable manner. He regularly visited me at home as I couldn't walk, and worked hard to bring a claim against the hospital. I knew he would win my case and he did."

Jonathan concludes, "Ultimately there will be fewer personal injury solicitors and those that remain will be the ones that have earned the trust and respect of their clients. I'd like to think we fit into that category."

*Compensation Recovery Unit 2004 figures show number of personal injury claims recorded in the past year is down by 9.5%, with public liability claims decreasing by 17% and employer's liability accident claims down by 15%.
