Paul Clarke Position: Partner - Commercial litigation Paul is a member of our commercial litigation team. He joined Taylor&Emmet in 2009, after more than a decade with DLA Piper. Paul specialises in commercial contractual disputes of all kinds, but with an emphasis on commercial trading disputes. Most of Paul’s cases centre around high value, business-critical disputes but he also provides support on smaller, everyday issues. He has specific niche expertise in environmental nuisance, having led the team in one of the leading Court of Appeal cases concerning flooding. He also has significant experience in the fields of commercial agency, trusts and probate disputes, partnership and corporate disputes and asset and sales finance. Paul has appeared in courts at all levels, in this jurisdiction and overseas. He is a keen advocate of alternative dispute resolution and frequently uses techniques such as mediation to achieve early settlement of disputes. |

Paul’s clients range from listed companies to owner-managed businesses, both locally and from further afield. He also works for individuals in environmental cases. His commercial clients occupy diverse industry sectors, but most of them operate in the manufacturing, motor retail and public sectors.
Paul is the Immediate Past President of the Sheffield & District Law Society, and he is a member of the Environmental Law Foundation and a Trustee of the National Flood Forum. He also sits as a Deputy District Judge on the North Eastern Circuit.
In his spare time, he enjoys travel and good food.
