Taylor&Emmet kits out sporty school 22nd July 2011
Talented pupils from a Sheffield primary school will be attending sports events looking like a winning team, as well as playing like one, thanks to local solicitors, Taylor&Emmet LLP.
The leading city firm has purchased a set of hooded sweatshirts for Greenhill Primary School’s football, cricket and athletics teams to use when they play in competitions.
The grey sweatshirts have been chosen to appeal to the girls and boys in the school’s year five and six sports teams. The zip-through jumpers display Greenhill’s name on the back and Taylor&Emmet’s logo on the front, to clearly identify the competitors at inter-school and county tournaments.
Taylor&Emmet partner, Jonathan Stittle, has co-ordinated the firm’s link-up with Greenhill Primary. He said: “Taylor&Emmet is a longstanding supporter of grassroots sports and we recognise the importance of capturing children’s interest in exercise at an early age. Greenhill’s 10 and 11 year-olds have excelled in a number of events in the last 12 months and it is a pleasure to be associated with such a high achieving school.”
Greenhill’s year six boys’ footballers are the current Southey League champions and finished third in the city finals. The team was also runners up in the Under 11 Boys Sheffield Cup, whilst four players were selected by Sheffield Schools. The girls’ cricket team has been equally successful, winning the city finals and finishing third overall in the Yorkshire competition.
In athletics, Greenhill boasts the city sprint relay champions, boys’ long jump runner up and race walk winner, Jack Leversidge. The year six pupil is also boys’ under 13 national champion and a member of the England under 17 squad.
Barry Unwin, Greenhill Primary School teaching assistant and coach of the cricket and football teams, added: “We would like to thank Taylor&Emmet for this generous donation and for showing such an interest in our sporting achievements. The reaction to the new sweatshirts has been universally positive and it is a great moral booster for our pupils to attend events looking and feeling like a team.”
